*** MEDIA ADVISORY ***
WHAT:
The ACLU of Iowa will make six stops in four days across Iowa, training activists and volunteers to engage presidential candidates on civil liberties issues through the ACLU’s Rights for All campaign.
While the ACLU does not endorse or oppose candidates, the organization’s Rights For All campaign will work with volunteers to get candidates on the record on key civil rights and civil liberties topics, including voting rights, reproductive rights, criminal justice reform, and immigration. At these trainings, ACLU members and supporters will gain insight on these issues, learn how to ask impactful questions and practice interacting with presidential candidates.
The Rights for All effort is engaging candidates in states with early primary contests. Iowa Rights for All volunteers have already attended over a dozen candidate events and gotten Elizabeth Warren, Beto O’Rourke, Cory Booker, Julian Castro, and Bernie Sanders on the record.
