The following statement can be attributed to Mark Stringer, ACLU of Iowa Executive Director.
"We're disappointed that the moratorium will be lifted. It's important for state leadership to do whatever possible to prevent scores of evictions and increased homelessness among Iowans who need help because of the ongoing economic and public health crisis.
"Right now we don't have details about the future program, and, of course, it will not immediately go into effect when the moratorium ends tomorrow. While we look forward to hearing more about the federally funded assistance program, the scope of the problem is such that what we need is across-the-the board statewide eviction protection. We're deeply concerned that assistance meted out on a case-by-case basis will be insufficient."
