Des Moines, Iowa — The ACLU of Iowa is pleased to announce that it has hired Becca Eastwood as advocacy campaign manager.

Eastwood will be responsible for leading community engagement and advocacy campaign strategies as the ACLU of Iowa continues to build statewide volunteer presence, engage Iowans in legislative advocacy goals, and expand knowledge and understanding of civil liberties throughout the state.

Originally from Decorah, Eastwood is returning to Iowa after living in Washington, D.C. There she managed the policy and advocacy program at the Columban Center, an international faith-based humanitarian organization. Previously, she worked for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service’s policy office as a Lutheran Volunteer Corps member.

Eastwood is a multi-issue policy advocate with ample experience crafting and implementing successful advocacy campaigns, creating and managing an advocacy leadership program for young adults from immigrant backgrounds, and leading a diverse, faith-based environmental coalition of more than 20 national organizations.

“We are delighted to add Becca’s experience in community engagement and policy advocacy to our team and look forward to our continued growth as a truly statewide organization with engaged supporters and activists throughout Iowa,” said ACLU of Iowa Executive Director Mark Stringer.

Eastwood is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. For the past six years, she has worked in policy and advocacy fields to advance migrant, environmental, and economic justice.

“I am honored to be returning to my home state and to be joining the excellent team at the ACLU of Iowa,” Eastwood said. “I look forward to working with folks across the state to defend the civil liberties of all Iowans.”
